Reolink Home Hub Device Migration lets you transfer your existing Home Hub’s settings and connected cameras to a new Reolink Home Hub in a single step. No reconfiguration is needed — your hub settings, camera passwords, detection settings, and recording schedules are transferred together.

Applies to: All Reolink Home Hubs

Note: The Reolink Home Hub 2 supports this feature out of the box. Other Home Hub models will gradually support this feature through future firmware updates; please stay tuned for the latest firmware releases.

This article will include two parts:

What Is the Device Migration Feature?

Device Migration is designed for the moment you replace or upgrade a home hub. The cameras that were previously managed by the original hub are handed over to your Reolink Home Hub 2 over your local network, so you can keep using the same cameras and the same configuration you have already set up.

The key capabilities include:

  • No Reset or Re-Pairing Required — Your cameras stay mounted and powered on. There is no need to press the reset button, remove the camera from the old hub, or scan its QR code again.
  • Runs on Your Local Network — The handover is completed over the router that both hubs are connected to, so the transfer stays inside your own home network.

Device Migration is not the same as adding a device. Adding a device is for a camera that is brand new or has been reset, while Device Migration is for cameras that are already running on another Reolink hub.

Note: Recordings that are already stored on the original hub are not transferred to the Home Hub 2. Only the cameras and their settings are migrated. To keep the old recordings, leave the microSD card or HDD in the original hub, or back up the files before you retire it.

How to Set It Up

Before you start, make sure your setup meets the following requirements:

  • Both hubs support the device migration feature.
  • Both hubs are connected to the same router.
  • The original hub that manages your cameras is powered on and online, and you know its admin password.
  • The new Home Hub has enough free channels for the cameras you are going to migrate.
  • Keep both hubs and all cameras powered on throughout the process.

Step 1. Open the Reolink App and your original Home Hub's settings page.

Step 2. Go to Administration, then tap Device Migration.

Step 4. Double-confirm, then tap Start migration.

Please confirm that the migration will:

  • Factory reset the source hub, erasing all its settings and devices.
  • Terminate cloud and smart home services for its linked devices.

The recordings in local storage media will NOT be affected.

Step 6. Wait for the migration to finish. The settings are moved one after another, and the app shows the progress. Do not close the app or power off the hubs while the migration is running. Your phone screen stays awake with the app in the foreground.
