What is Tamper Alert
Tamper Alert is an anti-theft feature designed to protect your doorbell from unauthorized removal. When enabled, the built-in sensor continuously monitors the doorbell's physical mounting orientation. If someone attempts to forcibly detach or pry the doorbell from its bracket, the sensor detects the change in angle or motion and triggers an immediate alarm response.
How Does it Work
Once the Tamper Alert switch is turned on, the sensor actively monitors the doorbell's installation state. When the doorbell is removed, pried, or stolen, the following alarm responses are triggered simultaneously:
- Audible siren — A loud siren sounds to deter the intruder.
- Flashing red indicator — The doorbell's button light flashes red as a visible warning.

Push notification — A push notification "Possible tampering on Doorbell. Tap to view." is sent to the Reolink App. Due to mobile device permission restrictions, push notifications must be enabled in order for Tamper Alerts to be delivered to your phone. You may refer to How to Enable Push Notifications.

Video recording — The doorbell automatically records the event for later review and as potential evidence. You can playback by filtering the event type "Tamper Alert".
How to Set it Up
Note: Supported on the Reolink App version 4.60 or above. Currently, the Reolink Client does not support the settings.
Step 1. Open the Reolink App and tap on your doorbell Settings icon in the top-right corner.
Step 2. Navigate to More> Tamper Alert, then turn it on.
Once enabled, the doorbell's built-in sensor will begin monitoring the mounting status continuously. You do not need to reconfigure it unless you reset the doorbell.
The tamper alert feature remains armed at all times, regardless of the doorbell's connection status, and will trigger when a tampering event is detected.
Important Notes
- It is recommended to turn on the Tamper Alert switch after the doorbell has been properly installed. Enabling it during installation may trigger false alarms.
- The built-in sensor detects changes in the doorbell's mounting angle. Minor vibrations (e.g., from a slamming door nearby) should not trigger the alarm under normal sensitivity settings.
- The Tamper Alert function works independently of the doorbell's motion detection settings. Disabling PIR Sensor will not affect Tamper Alert.
