The Reolink Doorbell Solar Charger is a dedicated solar panel designed exclusively for the Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery) and will not work with wired PoE or WIFI versions. The solar charger can continue to charge your video doorbell with sufficient sunlight, enabling virtually unlimited runtime for your battery-powered doorbell.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Step 1. Choose a Suitable Installation Location
Selecting the right spot is critical for optimal solar charging performance. Follow these guidelines:
- Maximize sun exposure: Install the solar charger where it can receive direct sunlight for as much of the day as possible. South-facing (in the Northern Hemisphere) is generally ideal.

Avoid shading: Even partial shade from trees, buildings, eaves, or other obstacles can significantly reduce power output. Avoid areas where shadows may fall on the panel at any time during the day.

Consider the diagram below: Between two candidate positions (e.g., Position A and Position B), choose the location B that receives more consistent sunlight throughout the day.
Step 2. Mount the Solar Charger
Once you have identified the ideal location, proceed with mounting:

Use the included mounting hole template to mark the screw hole positions on the wall. Drill holes at the marked positions using an appropriate drill bit.

Insert the wall anchors into the drilled holes.

Secure the solar charger to the wall using the provided screws. Do not over-tighten the screws when securing the bracket.
Step 3. Connect the Solar Charger to Your Doorbell
- Unscrew the mounting screws on the doorbell.
- Connect the Y-shaped plugs from the solar charger to the binding posts.

Securely fasten the screws back into place.
Note: This step is optional for Video Doorbell (2nd Gen), as it has two metal contacts for doorbell solar charger connection, though a wired connection is recommended as the primary option.
Step 4. Attach the Doorbell to the Solar Charger
The Reolink Doorbell Solar Charger kit allows you to mount the doorbell directly onto the solar charger assembly:
- Align the doorbell with the doorbell mounting plate on the solar charger bracket.
- Slide the doorbell downward into the mounting slots until it locks securely into place.

Gently tug on the doorbell to confirm it is firmly attached.
Done! Your Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery) is now charged by the solar charger! You can monitor the battery percentage over the next 24-48 hours under normal sunlight conditions. You should see the battery level increase or remain stable during daylight hours.
How to Remove Doorbell from Solar Charger
If you need to remove or reposition the doorbell:
- Locate and press the release hole on the bottom of the doorbell unit.
- Slide the doorbell upward to disengage it from the solar charger.

Carefully unscrew and unplug the connection cable if you need to fully separate the doorbell from the solar charger.
