When configuring AI-driven detection features, including Perimeter Protection and Smart Event Detection, it's crucial to adjust the sensitivity settings. Understanding how the settings work and interact will help strike a balance between accuracy and effectiveness.
Sensitivity Settings for Perimeter Protection Explained
Line Crossing Alert
-
High sensitivity: Shorter detection time. The camera triggers alerts as soon as an object crosses the boundary, but may generate false alarms if the object moves back and forth.
-
Low sensitivity: Longer detection time. This reduces false alarms from small or brief movements but may delay detection.
Zone Intrusion Alert / Zone Loitering Alert
-
High sensitivity: The camera triggers an alert as soon as a person or object touches the boundary or enters the monitored area slightly.
-
Low sensitivity: The camera triggers an alert only after a person or object fully enters the monitored area.
Since Perimeter Protection is AI-driven, its performance is closely linked to AI smart detection for people, vehicles, and animals. If you experience missed or false alerts, adjust the Smart Detection Sensitivity first to improve accuracy. For details, refer to How to Set up Smart Detection Sensitivity for Reolink Cameras.

Object Removal / Forgotten Object (Beta)
Note: Object Removal / Forgotten Object is only supported on certain camera models. Check the Comprehensive Guide to Reolink Perimeter Protection and Smart Event Detection to confirm availability.
- High sensitivity: Less noticeable objects in the environment are more easily detected.
- Low sensitivity: The camera is less responsive to subtle changes, so only clear or significant objects will trigger detection.
If Object Removal/Forgotten Object detection isn't performing as expected, try adjusting the sensitivity setting.
