How to Format the HDD on Reolink Devices

If you want to format the HDD or check the HDD status of your Reolink NVR or Hub, refer to the guides below.

Applies to: All Reolink NVRs and Reolink Home Hub Pro, Hub P1.

Note: All HDDs of Reolink NVRs and Reolink Home Hub are required to be formatted before being used. Once the HDD is formatted, all recordings will be erased. Make sure to back up any important recordings before proceeding.

Formatting HDD on Different Software

Via Reolink App

Step 1. Log in to your NVR via Reolink App, tap to go to Device Settings > Device Info > Storage.

Step 2. Choose the HDD you want to format and tap Format > Confirm to format it.
Via Reolink Client

Here is a video for your reference:

Step 1. Log in to the Reolink NVR on Reolink Client and then go to Device Settings > Storage page.

Step 2. Choose the HDD you want to format and click Format > Confirm to format it.
Via Reolink Web browser

Step 1. Log in to your NVR via Web Browser and then go to Device Settings > Storage page.

Step 2. Choose the HDD you want to format and click Format > Confirm to format it.
Via Monitor (Reolink NVR with New UI)

Step 1. Click the gear icon to get to the Settings page. Go to the Storage page.
Note: Depending on the NVR version, the Settings button may be located at either the top or the bottom of the interface.

Step 2. Choose the HDD you want to format and click Format > Confirm to format it.
Via Monitor (Reolink NVR with Old UI)

For RLN8-410 (hardware version H3MB02/H3MB16), RLN16-410 (hardware version H3MB02).

Step 1. Log in to your NVR via the monitor, and go to Menu > Device > HDD page.

Step 2. Choose the HDD you want to format and click on the Init button to format it.

Note: The S.M.A.R.T option is designed for the support team to check the information. Customers do not need to pay close attention to this option.
