If you experience situations like the display on the monitor is incomplete, with parts of the interface being cropped, making it impossible to see the menu bar and other elements, inappropriate mouse sensitivity, you will need to adjust settings such as resolution, mouse sensitivity, transparency and tour time. To do this, navigate to the output settings. This article will guide you on how to configure output settings in various software, along with simplified explanations of different output settings.
Applies to: All Reolink NVRs.
Currently, this feature is mainly available on monitors connected to the NVR via HDMI/VGA. The user interface (UI) is differentiated based on the NVR's hardware version, with newer and older UIs. Below, we will describe the setup process for both the new and old UIs.
Refer to Introduction to Hardware Versions of Reolink NVRs to first determine whether your NVR uses the new UI or the old UI, and then proceed to configure it on the corresponding NVR.
Preparation: Connect a TV/Monitor to the NVR via HDMI/VGA cable.
Reolink NVR (New UI)
The Reolink App, Reolink New Client, and Reolink Web Browser do NOT support the output settings. For the new UI on NVRs, you can click the content below to configure the settings.

Via Reolink NVR Monitor
Step 1. Right-click and log in to the NVR on the monitor. Go to Settings > System > General page. The Settings button may appear at the top or bottom, depending on the NVR version.
Step 2. Change the output settings on this page.
Screen Resolution: Please do not select the resolutions that exceed the resolution of your monitor, as it may not be able to display.
Note: (1) If you see the Recommended resolution after an option, this recommended resolution refers to the one suggested for optimal display on that monitor. The NVR system only supports recommending a resolution when detecting the monitor via HDMI. Some monitors may not have a recommended resolution due to the large number of monitor manufacturers, making it impossible to fully support every model.
(2) Available resolution options may vary depending on the NVR model. Please refer to your specific model for details.
Scrollview Time: Adjust the setting of the scroll view time of your cameras. It's the tour time for the cameras to switch automatically when you view them.
Select a Theme: Dark mode is enabled by default. You can switch to Light mode here.
Enable screen lock: Once enabled, a password is required to unlock the screen when it is locked.
Auto-Lock Time: It's the time the NVR locks automatically. If you created a login password for it, you need to enter the password to log into the menu of the NVR again when you exceed the auto-lock time.
Allow to go back to the previous page with a right-click: If you enable this option, you can go back to the previous page of the menu by right-clicking the mouse.
Mouse Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity of the mouse connected to the NVR.
The status reminder icon is displayed on the preview screen: If you enable this option, you can see the status reminder icon in the lower-left corner of the preview screen.
Reolink NVR (Old UI)
For NVRs with the old UI, you can configure the settings either directly on the monitor connected to NVR via HDMI/VGA cable or through the web interface. If necessary, you can install the older version of the Reolink Client (v7.2.2.7) and configure the settings using the v7.2.2.7 Reolink Client.

Via Reolink NVR Monitor
Step 1. Log in to the NVR on the monitor and go to Menu > Display >Output page.
Resolution: The number of “little dots” that make up an image. The higher the resolution, the better the image. However, please do not select the resolutions that exceed the resolution of your monitor or it may not be able to display. The NVR has the below formats available, in four different aspect ratios:
Standard (4:3) - 1024x768
Standard (5:4) - 1280x1024
Widescreen (16:10) - 1280x800,1440x900
Widescreen (16:9) - 1280x720 (720p) or 1920x1080 (1080p)
For Standard Monitors via VGA: Select one of the standard (4:3) formats for NVR’s output.
For Widescreen Monitors via VGA: Select one of the standard (16:9) formats for NVR’s output.
Notes:
1. If your widescreen monitor cannot display these resolutions, you might need to enable letter-boxing on your monitor and use a 4:3 format.
2. Using a standard-screen format on widescreen monitors will "shrink" the image horizontally, while using a widescreen format on standard monitors will “stretch” the image vertically.- For PC monitors via HDMI: Choose a format appropriate for your monitor.
- For Widescreen Plasma/LCD HD TVs via HDMI: The resolution should be set to the maximum your television can process not display. You may check your television’s documentation to find this value. Typically, a proper resolution will be 1080p, as even screens that support less resolution can still display the image, just with less detail. If your television cannot display 1080p, then use 720p instead.
Transparency: Set the NVR’s menu to be partially transparent.
Mouse Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity of the mouse on NVR.
Border Adjustment: Changes the size and position of the cameras’ images on the screen.
Note: To get the audio from the NVR to your speaker, the TV/monitor should be connected via HDMI cable and the resolution should be 1920*1080 or 1280*720.
