Here are some frequently asked questions about the Ethernet cable. Check to see if your question is addressed below.
-
Can two cameras be connected via one Ethernet cable?
No, two Reolink cameras cannot be connected via a single Ethernet cable directly. Each camera requires its own Ethernet cable to connect to the network. However, you can use a network switch or an Ethernet splitter to connect multiple cameras, allowing you to run one cable to the switch or splitter and then branch out to each camera. If using an Ethernet splitter, be aware that Reolink's Ethernet splitter PLA-PoECS1 has model compatibility requirements. Other brands of splitters have not been tested, so their compatibility cannot be guaranteed. It is recommended to purchase a high-quality Ethernet splitter and cables for the best connection.
-
Can I use a 3rd-party Ethernet cable with Reolink devices?
Yes. You can use any other 3rd party Ethernet Cable that meets the wiring standard of your choice.
-
What Ethernet cable can work with Reolink devices?
Reolink devices support T-568B connectors and CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6, and CAT7 with 8 PIN Ethernet cables. You can purchase an Ethernet cable from Reolink's official website: Reolink - Ethernet Cable.
To ensure stable network communication, use a Cat 5e or higher Ethernet cable and keep the cable as short as practical.
The maximum cable length between the camera and the network device (e.g., NVR or PoE switch) is 100m (328 ft) when using a Cat 5e or higher Ethernet cable.
The maximum cable length between the camera and the network device (e.g., NVR or PoE switch) is 80m (262 ft) when using a Cat 5 Ethernet cable.
Lower-category cables may result in a shorter maximum transmission distance. Click to check more details about the Ethernet cable: Getting Started with Ethernet Cable

Note: Bundle kits may not include 18m cables. Check What's in the Box on the product overview page or contact Reolink Support Team to confirm. -
What is the material of the Reolink Ethernet wiring? Is it fire-resistant? Can it be used outdoors?
The Reolink Ethernet cable is made of copper-clad aluminum, and it is not fire-resistant. But it can be used outdoors. The Cat5 cable is coated with a plastic jacket, making it fully waterproof except at the ends. To ensure proper protection, the connectors should be sealed with waterproof caps or waterproof tape.
